I get asked so many times why my company is called Arctic Bee.
So, let me tell you some amazing facts about Bombus Polaris, also known as the arctic bumblebee. It lives in extremely cold temperatures and requires a huge effort to regulate its temperature. It has a thicker coat of hair than other bees and can survive at near freezing temperatures. This makes it a survivor, like me.
There is a myth that the bumble bee shouldn’t be able to fly because its body is too large for its wings. Whilst scientists have disproved this myth, it does represent achieving the impossible, and this is where the name Arctic Bee comes from.
It’s about being different and achieving extraordinary things against the odds.
I’m sure that many people understand what it’s like to live with a mental health condition. Few people get through life without feeling some form of sadness or anxiety, but for many people it can be debilitating.
Having come from a very dark place to establishing my company, I am a survivor like Bombus Polaris. I live with anxiety and still have the odd down day, but striving to make a better future for myself, my children and my employees, and helping my clients to grow their businesses, keeps me moving me forward.
I guess what I am saying is, you may feel sometimes that life is too difficult, you’re not strong enough or you’ll never achieve your dreams, but don’t give up! If the Arctic Bee can survive in freezing cold temperatures and fly against the odds, so can you.
